Let us smile…
Let us smile at the thought of smiling.
If for but one day?
Yes.
Let us smile at the thought of smiling.
If for but one day?
Yes.
Before you, there was Doubt.
Apart from a momentary bout
of cursory resistance,
there was no promise of existence.
After you, there was Hope.
My soul did elope
with ideas dangerously close
to Trust’s ballad, “La Danse de Morose.”
There it was, life:
rose petals showered
on a bed,
so beautifully red.
Red, red, red,
and under, unhindered
was a knife.
I never knew rhyme,
but you were my rhythm.
And now, my sweet,
I am losing you-
I am losing my rhythm.
Some dreams are meant to be crushed.
An ax to the heart-veins cut, arteries gushing.
Some thoughts are meant to be shushed.
A clamp to the tongue, invisible in the head.
Some dreams are meant to be crushed.
A club to the mind that yearns to be undone.
A/n: This week’s theme is for my “Thoughts” or statuses: “Three words say” 🙂
Childhood days-
breezy memories.
Our parents’ youth,
many moments merry.
Let’s forget not,
in this life- a mere reverie.
A/n: That’s it, the last post under the week’s theme. I had a lot of fun with it and judging by the support I got I am hoping you did too! Do let me know what you thought. 🙂 If anyone has any suggestion regarding future themes, feel free to share.
Starting from tomorrow, the theme of the week will be “Haiku“. So enjoy! 🙂
That gentle waft
of a nightshade’s
perfume-
dark, ethereal,
beautiful-
kisses my senses
and disappears
into memory.
Sometimes, all it takes is a gentle nudge,
to topple over to the other side of sanity.
Tomorrow’s lies,
today’s errs.
Tomorrow’s pain,
today’s lies,
yesterday’s strain.
A year from now,
all but forgotten.
Their restless
rumba of
faithless
conjectures
did nothing
to dissuade her.
But his one
move changed
the very
meaning of
faith.
A/n: Small little reminder. This week is all about the HeartSoup hashtag from twitter. Enjoy and if you wanna share something you have written, you are welcome. Just leave a link in the comments below! 🙂
Saline pearls,
coursing
down smooth
skin,
culminating
into the
naked taste
of grief
on his tongue.
My words
leave invisible
stains
of blood
gushing
out of a
broken heart.
A/n: This week is all about twitter’s #heartsoup.
If you are a micropoetry fan on twitter, you’d know that everyday there is a prompt under the tag. Hope you enjoy!
You may call me a
witch or a wench.
But the truth remains:
in my rejection
you are bound to find
a blessing greater
than reciprocation.
A/n: As you all know it is “Poe Inspires Poetry” week on atopsyturvyworld.wordpress.com, today’s poem is inspired by the following verses of Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, “Dreamland”
I hope you enjoyed. 🙂
“Never its mysteries are exposed
To the weak human eye unclosed;”
No matter how much I wanted to,
I could not forget you.
It was as if your name had been branded
into the core of my heart.
It was there, hot and red,
etched eternally on my soul.
When real dreams turn
into fictional reality,
the world’s laws crumble.
You forget your place,
and humanity stands obliviated.
Two of each exist in your mind,
one- the real one,
one- your one.
A/n: This is inspired from someone who baffles everyone with their actions. The sad part is, I think they bewilder themselves too. 😦
Remember the theme for next week is eternity. So if you have anything to share regarding the theme, please do through a comment below! 😀
Wanting to be wanted-
nothing but a castaway thought.
Forgetting I’m forgotten-
wasting away in the rot.
A/n: Starting from tomorrow, this week is going to be all about eternity <—- theme of the week! 😉
So, stay tuned folks. 🙂
And remember, if you have written something related to this, don’t forget to share a link with me in the comments below. I promise to read and respond. But remember, it SHOULD be related to the theme. 😀
Whose son are you?
They asked maliciously.
“The son of a man
and that of a woman,”
I replied stubbornly.
To believe in stars was one thing,
to believe in childish games another.
What have you done to me, oh stranger?
‘Coz to believe in this fortune will nought bring.
The YOU was never a YOU.
The YOU was not a ME.
It was not a WE.
It was not an US.
The YOU was ALL of us.
The YOU was everyone.
I was married to a dream-
a dream that was you.
Divorced from reality,
so committed was my soul,
even the thought of another
seemed sinful, adulterous.
A/n: This week it is all about allegory, metaphors and word play. Enjoy and stay tuned. If you have something of this sort to share, leave a link in the comments! 😉
If dreaming about you is so intense,
what would be to meet you?
To talk to you would be heavenly,
but
to hear you speak-fatality;
to see you, in person-syncope;
to feel you, touch you-dyspnea!
~
When you were a million miles away,
you were closer than ever.
Now that you are so close,
you’re further than a million miles yonder.
~
~
My love for you is
utterly inexplicable.
But, you are there,
burning in my heart,
and nothing can be
done
or
undone.
~
~
Given the time,
the right circumstances
and the right amount of insanity,
any man can love any woman,
and any woman can fall for any man.
So to love was never unique.
It was always an illusion of something
that should be.
~
~
Clarity dawns
and
tranquility fades
as
I realize,
existence is
just
a
pointless game.
~
~
Sometimes,
the difference
between
reality and
illusion
is a mirror.
~
Oh God,
I asketh thou
to utter ‘be’.
~
But thou
let be
that which
be good
for me.
~
And I?
I crave
that which
be bad
for me.
~
A/n: Micropoetry all week. No illustrations / pictures / images this week… 😛 Enjoy! 😀
A spark of electricity,
a shadow formidable;
you are insanity personified,
an epitome of coherence.
You are a sin most sinful,
you are a blessing most sweet!
Every imperfection is perfect,
and every edge, amiable.
A/n: This week it’s all about music, folks. 😀
Today, I have gained inspiration from “All of Me” by John Legend, especially by the lines: “You’re crazy and I’m out of my mind” and “You’re my downfall, you’re my muse”.
Go check out that beautiful song and I hope you enjoy my little poem too! 😀
Don’t forget, if that song inspires you to write something too, share it with me through a link in the comments and I promise to read! 😀

Burning her was easy for him:
He blew heartlessly,
she combusted instantly,
her ashes flew
as the air turned smoky
with her remnants.
Swag and tall hopes,
cars and long shot dreams,
delusions and elusive hope
do not pay the bills…
